Sean Connery: The Untold Story
Synopsis
A real man. That’s the kind of clichéd nonsense we are used to hearing about Sean Connery: a ladies’ man, dominant, seductive, self-confident, in total control.
Men wanted to be him, women wanted to be with him. That was the adage that followed him throughout his life.
This portrait of Sean Connery has already been painted. It tells the story of a young Scotsman who grew up in the slums of Edinburgh, working from the age of 9 as an early-morning milk delivery boy. A self-made man, a colossus who chose to become an actor rather than a professional footballer. From humble beginnings, armed with his good looks and perseverance, he shot to fame at the age of 32 as the hero who would revolutionize action films.
James Bond became his double. A character so overbearing, my grandfather never stopped trying to escape him. Out of this career long struggle between man and his creation, the mythological figure of Sean Connery was born, a symbol of both authority and sex appeal. A figure, today, imbued with a rancid misogyny that no longer passes muster.
