Embankment Films bolsters unscripted division

Zoe Sandhu joins as head of production while Henry Farrington promoted to associate producer

Strike: An Uncivil War indie Embankment Films’ unscripted team has added Zoe Sandhu as headof production and promoted Henry Farrington to associate producer.

Sandhu joins the unscripted team led by Nick Taussig. She has held a series of production manager roles at indies including Silverback Films, BBC Studios Natural History Unit and Plum Pictures.

Farrington joined Embankment in 2023 as head of research. Prior to that he worked with Taussig in a series of development roles at the latter’s former indie Salon Pictures.

Taussig told Broadcast the changes come as the unscripted division focuses on “playing to its strengths” in the age of fewer, bigger, better.

“We’re very good at making big, ambitious biographical docs,” he said, citing examples such as recent Sky Arts feature Garbo: Where Did You Go?, as well as upcoming films Epic: The Life &Times of David Lean (Sky Arts), Wasp Woman: Murder of a B-Movie Star (Sundance Now) and an untitled doc about a post war British personality (Sky Arts).

The recently-announced Jeremy Irons-narrated feature doc Water People: The Story of Us, whichfollows six people whose lives are intertwined with the ocean and is directed by Maya de AlmeidaAraujo, is a good indicator of the unscripted team’s ambitions to cross-pollinate with its scripteddivision to attract “top-tier” on- and off-screen talent, according to Taussig.

“We [want to make] ambitious director-led films alongside those scripted propositions,” he said.

“Embankment has a profile as best-in-class, reflected in The Father winning Oscars, and so it’sreally ensuring that that continues in all our unscripted output.”

Embankment’s unscripted team last year produced Dwarf Story: Life Without Little People (ITV1)and Strike: An Uncivil War (acquired by Netflix). Its scripted unit is behind forthcoming films Sunny Dancer and an adaptation of West End hit Prima Facie.
