4th Feb, 2026

An ensemble cast including Asa Butterfield (“Sex Education”), Mark Strong (“1917”), Kyra Sedgwick (“The Closer”), Brittany O’Grady (“The White Lotus”), and Patti Harrison (“Together Together”) have come together for upcoming comedy “Happy.”

Described as “what may be the worst first meeting with your partner’s parents ever committed to film,” the feature was written by Ira Steven Behr (“Outlander”) and is being directed by John Carroll Lynch, who acclaimed offbeat debut “Lucky” starred Harry Dean Stanton and director David Lynch.

Embankment are launching global sales on “Happy” and will introduce the project to buyers at the upcoming European Film Market.

As the synopsis reads: “Welcome to the worst imaginable meeting with your in-laws. A shotgun fired at a birthday cake. A voyeuristic mother. A seductive sister. Way too much booze. Not enough boundaries.Does Myles (Butterfield) get his happy ending?”

The film is produced by Claude Dal Farra and Brian Keady of BCDF Pictures (“To Leslie,” “The Hating Game”), with Richard Kahan (“Lucky”) and writer Behr. Embankment is handling global sales.

“To say I am happy about ‘Happy’ is a weird sentence and an understatement,” said Lynch. “Love, ambition, seduction, and family, Ira’s great comedy has it all.”

Butterfield is repped by CAA and Independent Talent Group. Strong is repped by WME and Markham, Froggatt and Irwin. Sedgwick is repped by CAA and Range Media Partners.
